Knitting in Peru
I’ve been thinking about my knitting trip to Peru a few years ago with Cat Bordhi. She is an amazing woman, knitter, designer and philosopher. Peru was at the head of my “bucket list” for travel. After having the privilege of working at The Textile Museum and being exposed to the pre-Columbian collection there, it drew me like a magnet. Here are a very small number of the many hundreds of photos I took of beautiful Peru and its people.
Everywhere we went, you could find women (and some men) knitting, or spinning along the streets where they would sell their products. There were some absolutely fabulous weavings.
The local costume, and particularly the hats, varied from town to town, and the combinations of colors and patterns dazzle the eye.
Good memories!
Thank you for the beautiful memories, Sara!
The trip was so wonderful. I have the things I brought back all over the house, so I have frequent reminders of those treasured days and nights. Your photos and reminiscence brought it all back. 🧶♥️
