The Yarn Tree is Ready

I really enjoy colorwork, and have added (significantly) to my yarn color choices as my skill improves. Bruce wanted to help me find a way to both display the yarn and make it easy to pick just the right colors from my stash. After looking online for yarn display racks, he came up with this incredible hybrid of the various designs we had seen, and this was my Christmas present! There are “sticks” rotating around a center pole. Yes, they actually do rotate.

The “sticks” or branches, are actually knitting needles — old metal needles that once belonged to my mother and grandmother, plus a few donations from knitting friends (they need to be about a size US 8 or larger to be sturdy enough to hold the balls of yarn.

So many of my knitting friends loved the tree, that I had to promise to get Bruce to write up plans. He developed a second tree from scraps in the garage, and a few minor purchases from the hardware store. In all, the tree can be made for about $20 using very few tools. He has refined and refined the instructions so that just about anyone should be able to make their own tree. While this one is pretty large, it also could be scaled down to make a table-top model for a smaller collection. On August 1, 2019 they will be available in my Etsy Store.
