I remain in cruise mode (not wanting to jump into any of my own designs at the moment), so having finished the pink wrap for K’s mom, I’ve started on a similar one for myself — out of a 4-strand cotton yarn in the colorway “New Mexico 2” from Wolle’s Yarn Creations. I’m loosely following the pattern “Low Tide” by Hilary Latimer. I say loosely because I currently seem incapable of following directions (meaning that my stitch count doesn’t always match hers, and there are a few knit rows that were supposed to be purls).
There are apparently two versions of this color — mine has a more rusty read color than the one shown here.
In addition, the colors are much more intense than they show up here. It is a lovely yarn for a summer shawl — lightweight and with a lovely drape. I’m hoping to finish this before my trip to Sweden, as it goes perfectly with a dark brown linen dress that I suspect well be my “uniform” for visits to designers. I’m trying to pack light, with as few clothes as possible since I have so many gifts to bring along. The gift space will, of course, be stuffed with yarn for the return trip.
Summer is beginning to return to our little lake here in central Massachusetts. There were a few hardy youngsters out on jet skis yesterday, and the party boats are beginning to make their late-afternoon rounds. For those of you not familiar with party boats, they look like a box floating on the water with a nice canopy to shade the occupants. They tour around the lake slowly, and if you are of a mind, you can bring your beer glass down to the dock, hail a ride, and party with the neighbors who will stop by to fill your glass and give you a leisurely tour around the lake. I suppose we could go with our glasses of iced tea, but it’s still a little too cool on the water for me. Maybe by the 4th of July!
Sounds like you are doing really well. Miss You!!
