Suddenly Spring

After weeks of chilly rain, it’s suddenly spring. The past two days have given us cloudless skies and warm breezes, and beautiful flowers in the market.

I know I’ve been silent for a long time. House renovation and writing do not seem to be a good match. At the end of the day, we just crawl into bed exhausted. And it still isn’t done. It also seems like finishing will be a never ending project.

While nothing is quite finished (like no doors for the upper kitchen cabinets), it is starting to feel like our house.

I had actually managed to get my studio somewhat organized, and then everything had to be moved for post-construction cleaning. It isn’t nearly back to useable condition, but it is getting there.

Most of the real work will be on my storage bins of yarn. They didn’t come through the move (overseas shipping) very well, and will need to be replaced. The good news is that since everything was taped within an inch of its life, the bins held together despite massive cracks, and the yarn is in fine condition.

And for those checking carefully, yes that is a whole fleece in the bag leaning against the table leg. It is a native breed from here — a type of merino, and it has that lovely sheepy smell. It was well skirted, so should clean up pretty quickly and be ready to spin shortly.

I’m sorry this is such a short post, but duty calls, and I have to get back to cleaning and organizing. So until next time, stay calm and craft on.
